Covid boosters

With the new Pfizer and Moderna bivalent vaccines coming out, you may want to know: should I get the new COVID booster?

If yes, when?

Well, you came to the right place. The following are answers to our patient’s frequently asked questions. Our goal is to help you get vaccinated with confidence this fall.

I already had a COVID vaccine series. Why do I need another vaccine?

The immunity provided from your last vaccine is out of date. Although your prior vaccinations can reduce the severity of a new COVID infection, the last vaccine did not target the varieties of COVID that we are currently dealing with, Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.5.

What does “Bivalent” mean?

The new Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are BIVALENT, meaning the booster includes the original COVID vaccine AND protections against the newer COVID subvariant.

I just had COVID,should I still get a vaccine?

If you have recovered from a recent COVID illness, you are safe to receive a COVID booster. It can complement your natural immunity to reduce your chance of having another COVID illness this winter.

The CDC recommends everyone ages 12 and older receive an updated booster this fall, and so do we!

Please allow two months between your last COVID vaccine and the new bivalent booster. You can receive the COVID booster vaccine safely on the same day as your influenza vaccine and other vaccines. Before receiving this booster, you must complete an original COVID series with the primary/original vaccine.
